Contributor Call

We welcome photographers from all over the Region and even the Globe to submit content for publication in The NE Photo Journal.

While there are just a few requirements for becoming a successful contributor (The only guarantee is that you stand no chance if you don't submit), there are a great many advantages which should encourage enthusiastic photographers from all backgrounds to submit material. Some of the benefits to becoming a published contributor include:

The opportunity to see and showcase your photographic work in a published format is one of uncalculable value.

In addition to the exposure of your work to the growing readership of the Journal, you also have the option of placing a complimentary advert in the Contributors' Adverts section of both the Journal and the Website.

The chance to become Contributor of The Year and be awarded a special prize.

Requirements + Submission Terms

The first requirement is that you are the genuine Author and Copyright Holder of all work you wish to submit, and you must be responsible for any obligations as such. You must provide NE Photo with a signed Copyright Release Form (go to THIS PAGE and follow the instructions) before any work can be considered for publication. This form can be enclosed with your first potential submission.

You must be over the age of 18 Years to submit, or failing this your Legal Guardian must sign the Release Form and indicate this by their signature as well as identifying you as the author of the work in question.

Images can be photographic work of a variety of topics. All genres will be considered, with the exception of sexually explicit (Legitimate fine art nudes may be considered) or other potentially offensive materials.

Images are to be submitted in Digital Format, of a size greater than or equal to 1.3 Million Pixels, preferably on CD either as TIF or HQ JPEG format. No Slides or Negatives will be accepted, please do not send them.

If you have a body of print work which you would like to submit, this is possible but not guaranteed. Such prints must be unmounted and on GLOSSY PHOTO PAPER(for scanning) and need to be of a high standard and free of dust or scratches. Before submitting on print you should contact us to enquire of the possibility.

No print or CD will be returned unless you provide an SAE with correct postage for the return.

You stand a better chance of being printed and/or obtaining feature showcase coverage if you submit more than 10 images of a consistently high standard. If you have a body of work which concerns pecific subject matter, or an event, you also stand a good chance of gaining a multipage feature. Images and features will be chosen for their professional appearance and on the basis that they blend well with a particular issue's style and subject matter.

Unfortunately it will not be possible to print everyone's work, but we will at least let you know if you are successful or not prior to publication of a Journal.

Images that miss the submission deadline or are not suitable for a specific issue may, if relevant, be used in a later issue.

As you look through the pages of the Journal you will get a general feel for what makes up a feature, but don't be put off if your work is a different style- variety is the spice of life!

The terms and requirements as stated on this page may be changed at any time without notice. While NE Photo welcomes all potential contributors, we reserve the right to refuse any submission without reason or correspondence.

No guarantee is made to return prints or CD's provided, although every practical effort will be made on condition that an SAE is provided with suitable postage.

Contributors submitting images from outside the United Kingdom MUST mark the value of goods being sent as 'of no commercial value' otherwise they may be returned.
